This month is filled with happy birthdays to celebrate. Let's take a look!

November 1, 1934 - William Mathias, British composer and professor at the University College of North Wales, was born in Whitland, Wales.

November 4, 1897 - Oscar Lorenzo Fernandez, the Brazilian composer, conductor and pianist was born in Rio de Janeiro.

November 6, 1854 - John Philip Sousa, the great American bandmaster and composer of numerous marches was born in Washington D. C. He was known as the "March King".

November 8, 1921 - Jerome Hines, the great American baritone opera singer was born in Los Angeles. It is interesting that he was a chemist during World War II.

November 10, 1668 - Francois Couperin, the French organist and composer was born in Paris.

November 12, 1833 - Alexander Borodin, the Russian composer whose father was a prince, was born in St. Petersburg. He earned a doctorate in chemistry

November 13, 1854 - George Whitefield Chadwick, American composer, organist and conductor, was born in Lowell, Massachusetts.

November 14, 1719 - Leopold Mozart, the father of Wolfgang was born in Augsburg, Austria. He was a composer and Wolfgang's piano teacher.

November 14, 1805 - Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel, German pianist, composer was born in Hamburg. Her famous brother was Felix.

November 14, 1900 - Aaron Copland, the great American composer, conductor, and lecturer, was born in Brooklyn, New York. His music reflects folk motifs and syncopations. Copland received numerous international awards..

November 16, 1895 - Paul Hindemith, German-American composer, conductor, and lectured at Harvard University, was born in Hanau.

November 20, 1873 - Daniel Gregory Mason, the American composer and teacher was the son of Piano manufacturer Henry Mason and grandson of composer Lowell Mason. Daniel Gregory Mason was born in Brookline, Massachusetts.

November 22, 1710 - Wilhelm Friedmann Bach, German composer and organist, was born in Weimar, Germany. His father was the famous Johann Sebastian Bach. Wilhelm was the eldest son of the twenty children born to Johann Sebastian Bach.

November 23, 1876 - Manuel de Falla, Spanish composer and pianist was born in Cadiz.

November 24, 1868 - Scott Joplin, the American pianist and ragtime composer was born in Texarkana, Texas. In 1976 he was posthumously awarded the Pulitzer Prize.

November 25, 1862 - Ethelbert Nevin, American composer was born in Edgeworth, Pennsylvania. His compositions include: The Rosary; Narcissus, and Mighty Like a Rose.
