Open Voicing: Major 7th Chords

When listening to skilled accompanists, you soon realize that they consistantly use open voicings and inversions. This is where the musicality and creativity plays an important part. In order to be creative you must be proficient and knowledgeable in the construction of chords. Remember that a soloist will sound much better with a good accompanist. Likewise, if you accompany yourself, your singing will sound better if you are comfortable with the chords and voicings.
